After foundation i started to study Industrial Design, but work and travel in Europe and Asia more appealing. Inspired by my second wife i studied computer systems which provided a comfortable income. During this phase of my life i rekindled some artistic interest but produced little art due to the time constraints of family life and work.
In 1996 the purchase of a small holding acted as a vent for my "creativity". I enjoyed the process of renovating derelict buildings doing much of the work myself, i found the design and production of various articles stimulating and felt their utilitarian nature was only one aspect of making. Work produced ranged from staircases, to furniture, stone and brick walls, landscaping and gardening, stables, kennels and pig sties.
In more relaxed times i could explore less utilitarian activities but always felt what i did was not only developing skills and aesthetic awareness but also an expression of creativity and choice.
In August 2000 the marriage broke down, family life stopped. Despite the emotional shock of this (possibly because of it) i started drawing and painting again, and took the opportunity to go travelling again. A trip to Thailand revitalised my interest in Buddhism and helped me develop my meditation practice which i feel along with an interest in psychology has helped my art work.
I enjoy working, using any media, producing many different forms of art, i am particularly interested in the reaction and responses a piece generates, and am keen to capitalise on my knowledge of IT.I try producing more traditional work too, here i feel drawn to naive and primitive work as well as expressionism and works that require traditional craftsmanship and skills (bronze casting, realistic painting). Particularly keen to explore all forms of art, i am interested in abstract, conceptual, installation, photography, film as well as work that incorporates performance, music and sound, or stimulates the sense of smell.
